Prior to campers’ arrival, counselors spend 8 days participating in Staff and Leadership Training (SALT). By the end of this fun and extraordinary training, you will know (and hopefully like and appreciate) your fellow staff, have learned a number of new skills that will help you be a great counselor and understand our expectations and perspective on camp.

Throughout the summer, we have regular staff gatherings to discuss how camp is going and provide ongoing education and support to help you be the best counselor you can be. By the end of the summer, many counselors leave camp saying they have made “life long friends,” it was “the best summer ever,” and how “great the boys are.” Being a counselor at Winnebago is generally so profound that many staff choose to go into educational or related fields because of their fun and rewarding time spent at camp.
