Winnebago Alumni Association (WAA)
The Winnebago Alumni Association (WAA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to giving the gift of a summer at Camp Winnebago to boys whose families do not have the financial resources to attend. Our goal is to support the development of a diverse, inclusive community at Camp Winnebago by funding tuition for 12 scholarship boys each summer. Our ability to achieve this goal depends entirely upon the generosity of Winnebago alumni and friends. The WAA also publishes the Winnebago Alumni Newsletter twice annually and hosts alumni reunion events.
In 2016, the Association launched its first-ever capital campaign to establish an endowment fund. Our goal: to raise $500,000 by the end of 2019, the year Camp Winnebago celebrates its 100th anniversary. We are more than 1/3 of the way to our goal, with less than two years to go!
The capital campaign represents a major evolution for the WAA, which ran deficits for years. After reorganizing the Board and launching a host of fundraising initiatives and social events, the Association returned to sound financial footing and is now looking to the future. The capital campaign is a sign that the WAA and the scholarship program are integral, undying parts of the Winnebago experience.
An endowment fund will provide scholarships in perpetuity, ensuring that camp is a diverse, inclusive community for generations to come. Making a gift to the scholarship-fund endowment is as simple as writing “Capital Campaign” on the memo line of your check or in the comments section of your online donation.
