Adventuring all over MaineAs great as a day is at Winnebago, it’s fun to take a break. Once a week, usually on Wednesday, campers venture out from camp with their age group to explore and discover other parts of Maine.
Whether hiking in Camden State Park or climbing Mt. Pisgah’s fire tower, taking in the surf and exploring the tidal pools at Pemaquid Point, or enjoying a relaxing day at Damariscotta Lake State Park, trip day is a fun and different adventure. When campers return to camp in the afternoon and after an optional swim, they head down to the cook-out area with their counselor to build a fire and grill hot dogs and hamburgers for dinner, followed by a well-deserved ice cream. What a day!
Build self-reliance and life-changing experiences
Our trip program includes hiking, canoeing and kayaking trips ranging in length from 3 to 9 days depending on the boys’ age. By the time campers are fifteen, they will have explored some of the most beautiful places in Maine, and on earth. From the Allagash Wilderness on the Canadian border to Warren Island on the Atlantic Ocean and to the summit of one of the highest mountains on the east coast – Mount Katahdin, Winnebagans will do and see things never thought possible and learn skills that will serve for a lifetime.
