Getting Ready for Camp

Packing for Camp

Please review the Winnebago Packing List for clothing and equipment required for camp. Clothing may be purchased wherever you wish but for convenience, we have provided a link to our recommended outfitter, The Camp Spot. Much more information about uniforms, packing guidelines and helpful hints can be found in your Parent Handbook 2019.

International Campers: To help lighten the load, we provide towels and sleeping bags for international campers during the summer.

Shipping Bags to Camp: Bags may be shipped to camp via UPS, Fedex or Parcel Post and should be scheduled to arrive 2-3 days before your son arrives at camp. For those living on the East Coast, we ask that you use Camp Baggage. From this link you can download an enrollment form for submission by mail or enroll online.

Summer Medications: In order to provide the safest, most reliable and efficient way to dispense regularly prescribed medications during the summer, Camp Winnebago works with Walgreens in Manchester, Maine. When submitting prescriptions make sure to note “Save for Winnebago” on the form.

Phone calls: Please see our guidelines on telephone calls.

“The campers and counselors are amazing. Each day is incredible. We have so much fun and learn a lot. It is my home away from home. I love every day at camp and look forward to it all year! It is a privilege to be able to attend Camp Winnebago.”
Daniel, 5th grader, New York, NY

Visiting Day

Group activities at summer camp

Visiting day for 2019 is either Friday, July 19th or Saturday, July 20th. Parents, or other visitors, can choose one of those days and plan to arrive sometime around 9 am. Parents will be greeted at the main office where they will receive their son’s camp picture, a schedule of the day’s activities and be informed of where they can meet up with their son(s).

Each camper will attend his scheduled activities for the day while parents enjoy a regularly scheduled day. There are certain activities in which parents are invited to join in such as free swim or taking out a rowboat when the docks are open. Parents are invited to watch their sons in action.

Parents and campers enjoy a delicious lunch buffet and eat picnic style on the camp lawns or on the dining hall porch. Immediately after lunch, there is a rest hour where parents may play tennis, basketball, or newcomb/volleyball with their son. Visiting day ends at 5:00 PM. As parents depart, campers stay in their activities, keeping the natural flow of the day moving and ensuring a smooth transition. Please remember that Camp Winnebago is a nonsmoking and nut-free facility.
